Living Mirage Yardage
The Living Mirage print is inspired by the Head and the Heart’s Living Mirage album, which was recorded in Joshua Tree National Park. The design features motifs from every song in the album, exploring symbols and metaphors that evoke nostalgia and ache for the past. The imagery visualizes the feelings that make traveling out west so cathartic, and pull at humanity’s bend to advance backward. This screen printed design invites Americans to disconnect from the digital age through the practice of driving without a destination. Stepping out from the bustle and noise from an overbusy culture is an invitation to partake in a journey of self reflection inspired by reverence for the landscape.
Technically speaking, the design used three screens to create a six color screen print. Four yards later and the fabric has been used for experimentation, soft sculptures, book cloth and a variety of other applications.
The Final Design
